On Monday, February 22 from 5-7pm, all your favourite players from the Lethbridge Hurricanes hockey team will be serving up drinks, appies and dinner at Mr. Mike’s Steakhouse Casual for another round of “Tip a ‘Cane”!
All tips earned that evening will be donated to United Way of Lethbridge & South Western Alberta to invest in programs that make day-to-day life better for people in the Lethbridge region.
“The ‘Canes are leading the Eastern Conference this year. I think we can really blow a $500 goal out of the water and support the United Way,” says Mr. Mike’s Lethbridge owner Greg Wornstaff.
In 2015, the event raised $503.75 during the two-hour event.
Kathy Hong, public relations coordinator for the Lethbridge Hurricanes says it’s one of the more unique community events the team takes part in.
“The players are always out and about giving back to the community, “ she says, “but this is a really fun way for them to be involved and a great opportunity for fans to interact with their home team on a personal level.”
United Way’s Community Fund is the source of grants to over 20 organizations in the Lethbridge region to run programs for people and families.
