What is the Dairy Program?
The Dairy Program provides funding for the purchase of milk products to local charities, programs and schools who service children, youth, and underprivileged families within in our community. Organizations that benefit from United Way’s Dairy Program are able to invest more time and resources in other parts of their operations and programs and do not have to worry about funding for the purchase of milk and diary products.
Funding from the United Way Dairy Program is available to registered charities and schools which provide direct services to children and youth in Lethbridge and surrounding area.
Organizations wishing to apply and participate do not have to be presently receiving any funds from the United Way. If organizations are presently receiving funds they may still apply.
In order to apply organizations must meet the following criteria:
A. Be incorporated as a non profit organization.
B. Be registered as a charity under the Canada Income Tax Act.
C. Be located within the boundaries of the United Way of Lethbridge & South Western Alberta and provide services to clients within this area.
D. Provide programs and services to children and youth.
How does it work?
Interested parties must contact the United Way indicating they would like to submit an application. This can be done by calling the United Way office at 403-327-1700 or by email to lethbridgeunitedway@gmail.com. Applications may be made available if charities meet the criteria.
The amount disbursed to charities will depend on the number of organizations participating and the program that it is offered. Funds will be disbursed between September and March or until funds are depleted. Receipts must be submitted to the United Way for reimbursement.
