Over the last year, donations to the United Way of Lethbridge & South Western Alberta have enabled 17 local agencies to provide 31 programs and services to their clients. The impact of your donation has truly made a difference in the lives of individuals and families in Lethbridge and surrounding communities.

Payments can be made over the phone, at the office or by mail. We accept donations via credit card (Visa/MasterCard), cheque or mail order. Donations over $10 will receive a tax receipt in the mail.

LEARN HOW YOUR DONATION MAKES A DIFFERENCE…

  • $5 allows an individual who is recovering from an illness or injury to receive medical equipment at home through a loan program who would otherwise be unable to afford it. The number of clients served increased to 2585 in 2009, and the program is expanding to service 20-25% more clients this year.
  • $10 provides a baby bundle or smart pack to be distributed to a low income family. It will ensure their newborn receives proper nutrition as well as health and safety measures for the home environment. In the past year 642 Baby Bundles have been distributed, 131 Smart packs distributed, and 227 expectant mothers have been helped.
  • $46 allows a child or young adult to participate in summer day programs, after school recreation programs, and club house nights where a safe and supervised setting is provided. For as little as $1.77 per pay period, over 26 weeks, this is made possible.
  • $62 allows an individual, who has been newly diagnosed with Alzheimer’s or dementia, and their families to receive information, support, and community resources. For as little as $2.38 per pay period, over 26 weeks, this is made possible.
  • $152 provides a child with a mentor both in school and outside school. In a recent survey, 91% of “little” report feeling better about themselves, and 90% of “Bigs” witnessed a positive change in their “little”. For as little as $5.85 per pay period, over 26 weeks, this is made possible.
  • $212 provides rehabilitation support and service coordination to ensure an individual has the support they need throughout life. For as little as $8.15 per pay period, over 26 weeks, this is made possible.
  • $325 allows the Gift of Safety Car Restraint Program to provide a car seat to a low income family in need. For as little as $12.50 per pay period, over 26 weeks, this is made possible.
  • $334 provides counseling to an individual for short term or early intervention who are a low income resident of Lethbridge & surrounding area. These individuals are often at high risk with issues, including family violence, sexual violence, neglect, traumatic bereavement, and bullying. For as little as $12.85 per pay period, over 26 weeks, this is made possible.
  • $356 provides counseling and referral services to an individual affected with eye disease and blindness as well as resources to adjust to living with vision loss. Nearly 70% of clients are seniors. For as little as $13.69 per pay period, over 26 weeks, this is made possible.
